Pictorial quilts done by groups of quilters each interpreting her section in the method of her choice have always been intriguing to me. I photographed these tulips last spring and decided it would be a great photo to use for a group challenge. I divided the photo into seven vertical sections and invited six other CBQ members to participate. I created full size line drawing patterns for each of the artists to work from and gave the group a short list of “rules” to follow. The seven artists had five months to complete their sections and then I collected them, trimmed them to size and faced each of the sections for uniformity. It was so exciting to see the picture coming together as each of the sections arrived.
I am fortunate to have such talented friends who were so willing to join together in this challenge. Thank you!

2009
Winner!! Our "Tulip Mania" group quilt took home a "Judges Choice Ribbon" at the 2009 Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival, Hampton, Virginia.
Another Award!! "Tulip Mania" won the "Viewers Choice ribbon for Traditional Pictorial Quilts" at the 2009 Cabin Branch and Stone House Quilt Guilds annual show.
2010 - National Quilting Association show in Columbus Ohio awarded 1st place in Group Quilts to Tulip Mania.
