Children’s Artwork Recreated
The original artwork that inspired this piece was done in crayon on on grey construction paper. I loved all the detailed patterns that my daughter had drawn in each of the feathers, they reminded me of fabrics so I decided this would be a great piece to recreate in fabric. I used the cut away fusible method of applique with hand blanket stitching on the raw edges. Other embroidery and buttons were added for embellishments on the turkey. Detailed free motion quilting using a variety of cotton threads and clear monofilament add texture to the quilt. I used a walking foot for some of the border quilting and added a multi colored striped bias binding. For added detail the final touch on this quilt was to bead the inner border.
