Freedom’s Garden

2008

April 3, 2008 a small group of ladies from the CBQ Wednesday Bee went to the UnitedStates Botanic Gardens. Due to the time of year we visited there was not an abundance of flowers. As we walked along the paths through all the lush variety of green foliage there were hints of other colors peeking out. As we continued our tour the most beautiful individual blossoms would catch our attention and we would focus on them briefly. This quilt is based on the 1st Ladies Water Garden designed by Baldev Lamba, which is in theNational Garden outside the Conservatory. The U.S. Capitol is in direct view of the gardens and Freedom has a perfect view from atop the dome.

Freedom’s Garden traveled for a year with the Mason Dixon Quilt Professionals Network’s “This is what I do” exhibit 2009/2010.
