Challenge Quilts
In the 1920’s, Benjamin Yoe Morrison created a series of woodcuts that appeared on the covers of The National Horticulture Magazine for the next twenty to thirty years. Morrison was the editor of the magazine, which was a publication of The American Horticulture Society.
Beth Wiesner loved their simplicity and charm and got permission to use the designs. She challenged a group of quilters to make quilts of any size and any technique but the woodcut had to be recognizable. The quilts were due by October 31st, 2009.
