Children’s Artwork Recreated

On and off for a couple of years I have been embroidering a collection of pictures and words that my oldest daughter Lauren drew and wrote from the ages of four to ten. Some of them are from school projects or out of her journal and some were just for fun. I enlarged or reduced the originals if necessary to fit in the white squares. After all of the squares were complete I added an ½ inch green batik accent border to each one of them. Sashing, borders and backing are all the same blue batik. I wanted the pictures to be the main focus of the quilt but I like the textures in the two fabrics I chose for the quilt. The squares are free motion quilted with white cotton thread and clear monofilament. The accent borders are quilted using a walking foot and green cotton thread. Finally the sashing and borders are quilted with a multi colored cotton thread.
